Coated in Houndstooth

C

Ann Taylor (thrifted) coat
Shoes from Winners
Dress from China
Old socks

Coats are the bane of my existence. Don't get me wrong, I both love and need a coat for all occasions, but I find it very difficult to find outerwear that fits me correctly, let alone looks flattering on me. Maybe my shoulders are too narrow for how wide my torso is, but the shoulders and arms always look terrible on me, like the coat is sizes too big, even if it fits me everywhere else just fine. Anyway, every once in a blue moon, the thrift gods are looking out for me, sometimes when I least expect it.

I stumbled upon this houndstooth number in the summer but I knew it was meant to be. I had been looking for an oversized overcoat for about two winters but (re: my weirdly proportioned upper body), every oversized coat style I've ever tried looks HUUUUGE on me, like I accidentally got 2 sizes too big. This Ann Taylor number, however, fit me like a dream. It's loose and flowy, but not overwhelming for my petite frame.

And I love houndstooth, especially for fall. I was really feeling the monochromatic thing for this look and paired it with a simple white shift dress, over-the-knee socks and woven flats. And I threw in a good ol' faux bob, which I felt paired really well with a sort of retro-looking coat.

Happy Monday Frockers!

White Dream

Dress: Joe Fresh / Hat: Target / Sunnies: Old Navy

A November vacation gives you one last chance to relish in your favourite white fabrics. I think I spent most days in this lightweight white dress (which I believe I found in the pyjama section of the Joe Fresh store) and what great days those were! Coming back to the chilly weather in Montreal, it almost feels like the vacation never happened but these pictures certainly remind me that it wasn't too long ago I was enjoying the ocean breeze... sigh.
Alas, it's time to get into the holiday spirit and pull out the chunky sweaters and the sparkle. I'm ready now!

Autumn Street Style

Zara coat
Le chateau trousers and shoes
Costa Blanca top
Scarf from China

A classic trench is a fall staple. I recently got a new one from Zara that is surprisingly warm and fits like a glove. It's been one of my go-to jackets this fall because it protects you so well from the wind and happens to also be water resistant, although for those really wet days, I'd probably stick with a rain coat. I love how it looks with a pair of wide-legged trousers and a pop of colour. And by the way, if you ever want to feel like a detective, just throw on some black gloves, boots, and collared-shirt. Just sayin'.

Wet Hair, Don't Care

Dress: H&M / Hat: F21 / Sandals: Franco Sarto / Bag: Thrifted

After a long summer of work, work, work, I was finally able to take a vacation. After many months fantasizing about the beach, we finally decided on the charming island of Saint Martin. This island is definitely unique to the Caribbean as it is split between two sides, The Dutch side and the French side. I definitely recommend this destination to everyone as the beaches are breathtaking and the European influence is quite a charming aspect as well.
Here I am rocking my wet curly hair which doesn't bother me at all because I'm in vacation mode.  This simple white dress also has the perfect, simple silhouette which I wish I had more of in my wardrobe. All in all, a very happy moment!

Kiss Nail 2016 Preview

Ok Frockers, I need to catch my breath for a second because I have just been to the most exciting press event of the year so far...the Kiss 2016 preview! Now, everyone and their mother knows by now how much I LOVE a good mani, especially with some funky nail art. The Kiss event did not disappoint. We met celebrity nail artist Gina Edwards (she's touched Lady Gaga's hands y'all), who walked us through some releases from the brand for the coming year. From stick-on nails to make-your-own-glitter-polish kits, I gotta say, their new releases are some of the most exciting things I've come across in nail art in a while.

I was quite intrigued by the waterless nail tattoos. They are so easy to apply, they don't have adhesive but you just press it into your nail and it sticks! And they are much thinner than traditional nail stickers, so it's a much more sleek and professional look.

And I'm also super excited to try their blooming lashes. Whereas most false eyelashes have a single angle to each lash, this collection has multi-angled lashes that gives a really cool, more natural yet voluminous effect. They come in 6 different styles and I'm so happy Kiss gave me some to try because they won't be released until December 2016 and I think they would be really great on a bride. So thank you Kiss!

I also loved their DIY glitter polish kits. They are super fun and the glitter they include in the kits are really pretty! Here are a couple of my concoctions. I just can't get over all the sparkle...

No doubt about it, I was in mani heaven!
